Donations of growing tunnels and The Africa Grower compact food cultivation systems in 2021 boosted community food gardens managed by Mhani Gingi in Langa and at the Mhani Gingi Centre of Social Entrepreneurial Excellence in Athlone.
Ashoka invest in social entrepreneurs internationally and appointed Lillian Masebenza as an Ashoka Fellow in 2008.
The Bertha Foundation has provided Mhani Gingi with most needed rands and cents.
Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries supported the Mhani Gingi project through its food security sub-programme.
The Department of Social Development, via the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) of the National Department of Public Works, provided vital support for the gardening activities of the Flagship Programme. Honourable Minister of Social Development, Ms. Lindiwe Zulu, handed over a donation of R300 000 at the start of 2021 towards Mhani Gingi’s work in communities.
The Dobkin Family Foundation has gladly provided transport for Mhani Gingi Network.
General Mills global food company through donor organisation United Way Worldwide provided grants to Mhani Gingi in 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 towards educational and environmental projects. The funding assisted Mhani Gingi with ensuring good nutrition and healthy young minds through its efforts at Early Childhood Development centres. General Mills supported other projects promoting a healthy quality of life among women and youth.
Kwanza Sands Minerals, formerly Consul Glass, during 2019 generously donated the new paving at the Mhani Centre of Social Entrepreneurial Excellence. The pathways enable access for wheelchair users.
Landorf Nursery (Pty) Ltd. in Philippi, Cape Town, provided seedlings and other horticultural supplies for Mhani Gingi Nursery and the community gardens.
LegalWise sponsored structures for Early Learning Development Centres assisted by Mhani Gingi.
Old Mutual donated land space at the head office in Mupine which housed the Mhani Gingi Organic Herb and Vegetable Seedling Nursery, together with the ground garden and plant tissue laboratory, until 2017. Old Mutual also provided office space for Mhani Gingi.
Soroptomist International provided funding towards the construction of vertical gardens enabling adults with physical disabilities to participate in gardening. Donations provided through Soroptimist International’s Stratford on Avon Club, London, and Rhyll and District Club, England, assisted with installation of irrigation in community gardens managed by Mhani Gingi in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture donated water tanks for collection of rainwater at the Mhani Gingi Centre of Social Entrepreneurial Excellence and has trained staff in agri-processing procedures, hygiene, and food safety.

Programme (EPWP), supported the project in which a pre-used shipping container was acquired and recycled to create the Mhani Gingi Agri-Processing Hub. The facility was launched in 2021.
The Western Cape Department of Health through the Western Cape on Wellness (WoW!) initiative made Mhani Gingi a community partner and provided training for Mhani Gingi staff and Health Champions in plant-based eating.
