Mhani Gingi – when translated into English – stands for a caring, industrious woman who is always looking for lasting solutions to social problems. Mhani Gingi is a non-profit organization that strives to provide innovative business solutions which are sustainable and profitable, and contribute towards alleviating poverty in South Africa.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to become a world leader in providing sustainable solutions that combat chronic hunger and poverty in local communities and at a global level, in alignment with the South African National Development Plan guidelines, the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Methodology

Mhani Gingi provides tailor-made skills training, both business and technical, to members of the network.  The organisation believes that the successful way of alleviating poverty is by teaching marginalized groups skills that they can implement in their own communities. As the members gain skills, they become owners of knowledge that can be used to sustain themselves. Skills and knowledge will not run out like handouts or donations, and the members will move on from being consumers and providers of labour, to being owners and creators of wealth.

The methodology is based on two models.  These entail ongoing practical implementation in agricultural projects and the emerging businesses of our beneficiaries, while continuous monitoring and evaluation ensures successful skills transfer. In this way we ensure the empowerment of individual beneficiaries and their enterprises from survivalist mode to sustainability and profitability.

The Mhani Gingi Models

The power of the collective

Mhani Gingi uses the Power of the Collective to maximise networking and tailor-made integrated skills development training according to the collective strengths and skills of the members.
